Marketing Services > Business Cards
In the business world the business card has become a staple of business. Modern technology allows what was once an expensive business purchase to now be had for as little as $30.00 for 300 double-sided full-color cards. And yet, many companies seem to think that printing cards on those Avery card-stock is a cost effective way to go.
A business card is a key part to that ever important first impression. A home-printed card says a lot about you and/or your company. The same applies to a card that is "home-brewed". Stock clip-art that ships with Microsoft Office (including publisher) or any other graphic program will be dated. In addition, do you want to have a card that has the exact same logo as another company, maybe even your competitor?
Seth over at Seth's Blog has a good rant on business cards that should be read by anyone wanting a business card. The link is here. We have to agree with most of what he is saying. Our rules for business cards are as follows:
- Never put your face on them. We'll never understand why real estate agents think this is a good idea.
- If at all possible, avoid using a photo in the picture, unless you are going to spend the money to have them printed professionally. Vector artwork is much more effective.
- Never ever use those perforated sheets. It says you are too cheap to care about making a good impression.
- Your business card design, colours, layout, logo, and word mark should work collaborately with the rest of your marketing material.
- Buy the most expensive card stock you can afford. The heavier the better.
